A true friend doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear… they tell you what you need to hear. Proverbs 27:6 reminds us that faithful friends sometimes wound us with truth, but those wounds are given in love and for our growth.
It’s not always easy to hear hard truths, but I’ve learned that the friends who care enough to speak honestly are the ones who truly love me. They’ve helped me see blind spots, correct course, and grow in ways I never could on my own. Their words might sting in the moment, but they lead to healing and wisdom.
Being that kind of friend requires courage and love. It means speaking truth gently and with humility, always pointing others back to God’s Word. In a world that values comfort over conviction, faithful friends stand out as a gift from God.
