Have you ever been deeply hurt by someone’s words? Or have you experienced healing and encouragement from a kind word? The Bible repeatedly highlights the power of the tongue. Our words can wound or heal, destroy or restore.
There was a moment in my life when someone’s words left a scar on my heart. For years, I carried that hurt until someone else’s kind and thoughtful words brought healing. That experience reminded me of the weight our words carry.
Proverbs 12:18 contrasts reckless and wise speech. Reckless words cut deep, but wise words bring healing. As followers of Christ, we’re called to use our words to uplift, encourage, and bring life. Every word we speak is an opportunity to reflect God’s love and truth to others.
Reflection Questions
- Think about a time when your words either hurt or healed someone. How can you learn from that experience?
- How can you intentionally speak life into someone’s situation today?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the power of words. Help me to use my tongue to bring healing, encouragement, and truth to others. Teach me to reflect Your love in every conversation. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
