Speaking Truth in Love

There’s a delicate balance between truth and love. Ephesians 4:15 calls us to speak the truth in love, a command that requires both courage and compassion. It’s not enough to speak truth harshly, nor is it loving to withhold truth when it’s needed. Both must go hand in hand.

I’ve had moments when I needed to confront someone but feared hurting their feelings. Other times, I spoke truth without considering how it might be received. Neither approach reflected Christ. When we speak truth in love, our words build up instead of tearing down. They guide others toward God’s best while preserving the relationship.

This balance isn’t easy, but it’s essential for spiritual growth… ours and theirs. Before speaking, ask yourself: Is this true? Is it necessary? Is it loving? When we align our words with God’s wisdom, they become a powerful tool for encouragement and transformation.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for calling me to speak the truth in love. Teach me to balance courage and compassion in my words, reflecting Your character in every conversation. Help me to build others up and point them toward You. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
