Homosexuality: The Transforming Power of the Gospel

The gospel is about transformation. No matter what our struggles, sins, or past experiences, Christ offers us the chance to become a new creation. This truth applies to everyone, including those navigating issues of sexuality.

In today’s culture, identity is often tied to feelings or desires. But the Bible teaches that our true identity is found in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that when we come to Jesus, we are made new. This doesn’t mean the journey is easy or without challenges, but it does mean that God’s grace is sufficient to guide and sustain us.

The church’s role is to point people to the transforming power of the gospel, offering both truth and grace. By walking alongside others with compassion and patience, we create space for God to work in their hearts and lives. Transformation is His work, and it’s a beautiful testimony of His love.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you share the message of transformation in Christ with love and humility?
  2. What steps can you take to walk alongside someone who is seeking God’s truth?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the transforming power of the gospel. Teach me to see others through Your eyes and to extend both truth and grace. Help me to trust in Your work of transformation and to point others to the hope found in You. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Our Daughter’s Twelfth Birthday: Stepping into New Beginnings

Today, our sweet daughter turns twelve, officially stepping into her pre-teen years. This milestone feels monumental as I look back on the journey we’ve been on together. While the past year has been marked by significant transitions, our daughter continues to shine with strength, kindness, and a heart for the Lord.

Watching her navigate new challenges at school, friendships, and life in general has been humbling. She’s growing into a young woman who is thoughtful, compassionate, and wise beyond her years. It’s been a privilege to see her faith deepen as she learns to lean on God in every circumstance.

As her dad, my greatest prayer is that she knows how deeply loved she is… by me, but even more so by her Heavenly Father. I pray she understands the incredible purpose God has for her life and that she continues to grow into the woman He’s calling her to be.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you help your children embrace the changes and growth that come with stepping into new seasons of life?
  2. What practical steps can you take to instill a strong foundation of faith in your children as they mature?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the privilege of being our fdaughter’s father and for the joy of watching her grow. Teach me to guide her with wisdom and love, helping her to trust You with every part of her life. Bless her as she steps into this new season, and remind her daily of Your love and purpose for her. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Blessings and Curses: The Tongue’s Dual Nature

The tongue is a paradox. James 3:9 points out its dual nature: one moment, we use it to praise God, and the next, we use it to curse those made in His image. This inconsistency reveals how much we need God’s help to align our words with His heart.

I’ve caught myself in this contradiction more times than I’d like to admit. A heartfelt prayer of worship in the morning can be followed by a sharp comment or a complaint by afternoon. It’s a sobering reminder that the tongue reflects what’s in our hearts (Luke 6:45).

The solution isn’t to try harder. It’s to surrender our hearts to God. When He transforms our hearts, our words will follow. Let’s commit to being consistent in how we use our tongues, offering praise to God and speaking life to those around us.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you align your words more consistently with God’s character?
  2. When have you seen your tongue’s dual nature, and how did it impact you?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the reminder that my tongue reflects my heart. Teach me to surrender my heart to You so that my words bring praise to You and encouragement to others. Help me to be consistent in how I use my speech, honoring You in all I say. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Tongue as a Fire: Controlling Its Destructive Power

The imagery James uses to describe the tongue is striking. A small fire with the potential to destroy everything in its path. I’ve witnessed how one harsh word or careless comment can spark conflict, damage relationships, and leave lasting scars. James’ warning reminds us of the need to control this powerful instrument.

When we let emotions dictate our words, the tongue becomes a weapon. It’s easy to speak in anger, frustration, or haste, but those words often cause harm we never intended. Controlling the tongue requires humility, self-awareness, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.

The good news is that, while the tongue has destructive potential, it also has the power to bring healing and peace. By surrendering our words to God, we allow Him to transform them into tools of grace and encouragement. Let’s commit to taming our tongues and using them to reflect Christ.

Reflection Questions

  1. How have your words acted as “fire” in recent situations, either destructive or healing?
  2. What steps can you take to surrender your tongue to God’s control?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the reminder of how powerful my words can be. Teach me to control my tongue and to use it for good, not harm. Help me to reflect Your love and grace in everything I say. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Power of Life and Death in the Tongue

Our words carry incredible weight. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that the tongue has the power of life and death. This isn’t just poetic language. It’s a profound truth. The words we speak can build someone up or tear them down, inspire faith or spread doubt, bring healing or cause harm.

I’ve seen the effects of careless words, both in others and in myself. A thoughtless comment can linger in someone’s heart for years, shaping how they see themselves or even how they see God. On the other hand, words of encouragement can breathe life into someone who’s struggling, reminding them of their worth in Christ.

As Christians, we’re called to use our words to glorify God and bless others. This means choosing to speak life, even when it’s difficult. It means pausing before we speak, asking if our words align with God’s truth and love. When we surrender our tongue to Him, our words become a powerful tool for His kingdom.

Reflection Questions

  1. How have your words impacted others recently… positively or negatively?
  2. What steps can you take to speak life into the people around you?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the power of words and the ability to use my tongue for good. Teach me to speak life, healing, and encouragement into every situation. Help me to reflect Your love in everything I say. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

El Roi: The God Who Sees Me

El Roi, “The God Who Sees Me,” is one of the most personal and comforting names of God. Hagar, an outcast and single mother, cried out to God in her despair, and He revealed Himself as the One who sees, hears, and cares for her.

God Sees Your Pain: Like Hagar, you may feel unseen or forgotten, but El Roi is always aware of your struggles.

God Sees Your Value: He not only sees your circumstances but also your worth, reminding you that you are deeply loved.

God Sees Your Future: El Roi doesn’t just see where you are… He sees where He’s leading you and provides hope for what’s ahead.

Knowing El Roi means trusting that God sees every detail of your life and cares for you deeply, even in the hardest moments.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does knowing God sees you bring comfort in difficult times?
  2. How can you remind yourself of El Roi’s presence in your daily life?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being El Roi, the God who sees me in every moment of my life. Teach me to trust in Your care and to rest in the knowledge that I am never alone. Help Kneel Ministries encourage others to find comfort in Your presence. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Marriage: The Role of Sacrificial Love

Marriage is one of the most profound illustrations of Christ’s relationship with the church. Ephesians 5:25 challenges husbands to love their wives with the same sacrificial love that Jesus demonstrated. This love isn’t based on feelings or convenience. It’s a daily choice to put your spouse’s needs above your own.

Sacrificial love means serving, forgiving, and persevering, even when it’s hard. It reflects Christ’s love, which is selfless and unconditional. For wives, this means honoring and respecting their husbands, as Ephesians 5:33 instructs. Together, this creates a beautiful partnership that glorifies God.

In my own journey, I’ve learned that this kind of love requires humility and grace. It’s not about being perfect, but about striving to reflect Christ in our actions and attitudes. When we love sacrificially, we strengthen our marriages and create a foundation that can withstand life’s challenges.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you practice sacrificial love in your marriage or relationships?
  2. What does it look like to reflect Christ’s love in your daily interactions with your spouse?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your example of sacrificial love. Teach me to love selflessly and to reflect Your grace in my marriage. Help me to serve, honor, and cherish my spouse, trusting You to strengthen our bond. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

When Friendships Fade

Not all friendships last forever. Some fade as seasons change, while others end due to conflict or distance. Letting go of a friendship can be painful, but Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there’s a season for everything.

I’ve experienced the heartache of fading friendships, and it’s taught me to cherish the time I had with those people while also trusting God’s plan. Sometimes, friendships end because God is leading us in different directions. Other times, He uses the loss to create space for new relationships that align with His purpose.

It’s important to grieve the loss of a friendship but not to let it lead to bitterness. Pray for those friends, bless them, and trust that God is working in both of your lives. Seasons change, but God’s faithfulness remains constant, and He will always provide the relationships you need.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you trust God’s plan when a friendship ends or changes?
  2. What steps can you take to honor and pray for friends, even after they’ve moved on?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the friendships You’ve brought into my life, even those that were only for a season. Teach me to trust in Your plan and to let go of relationships with grace and love. Help me to pray for and bless those friends, trusting that You are working in their lives and mine. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

When Life Falls Apart

I never thought my life would fall apart the way it did. When my wife left, I didn’t understand why. I prayed, pleaded, and sought answers, but they didn’t come. The silence was deafening, and the hurt was overwhelming.

In the midst of the pain, I discovered something about God that I hadn’t fully grasped before: He is close to the brokenhearted. I felt abandoned, not just by her but even by God at times. Yet, as I kept crying out to Him, I began to feel His presence in ways I hadn’t before.

He didn’t swoop in and fix everything overnight. Instead, He walked with me through the valley, calling out areas in my own heart that needed healing and transformation. He reminded me that even in the middle of devastation, He was still working.

Watching my daughter grow through this season has been bittersweet. Seeing her start new schools and navigate her own challenges while missing her mother broke my heart. But it also reminded me of the importance of showing her that even when life falls apart, we can rely on God to hold us together.

Reflection Questions

  1. How has God shown His presence to you during times of brokenness?
  2. What steps can you take to rely on Him more fully in your own valley?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for staying close to me when my heart feels shattered. Teach me to trust You in the middle of pain and uncertainty. Help me to see Your hand at work, even when life doesn’t make sense. Strengthen me so I can reflect Your love to those around me, especially my children. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Parenting: Teaching Truth in a Confused World

Raising children in today’s world can feel overwhelming. With so many competing voices and influences, how do we guide them in God’s truth? Proverbs 22:6 offers encouragement: when we train up our children in the ways of the Lord, we lay a foundation that will last a lifetime.

Parenting isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency. Teaching truth means having honest conversations about what the Bible says, modeling godly behavior, and creating an environment where faith is lived out daily. It also means equipping our kids to discern truth from lies, helping them navigate a culture that often contradicts God’s Word.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a deep understanding of who God is and who they are in Him. By planting seeds of faith and truth, we trust God to grow them into the men and women He has called them to be.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you create a home environment where God’s truth is taught and lived out?
  2. What specific steps can you take to help your children discern truth from cultural lies?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the privilege of parenting. Teach me to guide my children in Your truth and to model a life of faith and obedience. Help me to trust You with their hearts and futures, knowing that You are the ultimate Shepherd of their lives. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
