Show Me Your Friends, and I’ll Show You Your Future

The saying, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future,” carries deep truth. Our friendships play a significant role in shaping our character, decisions, and direction in life. The Bible reinforces this wisdom, warning us that bad company can corrupt good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Think about the people you surround yourself with. Are they encouraging you to grow in your relationship with God, pursue your purpose, and live a life of integrity? Or are they leading you toward compromise and distractions? The path of your friendships often becomes the path of your life.

I’ve seen how the right friendships can propel someone toward their God-given calling, while the wrong ones can derail them. This isn’t about abandoning people. It’s about being intentional with your inner circle. Choose friends who inspire you to be the person God created you to be, and be that friend to others.

Sharing the Gospel with Grace and Truth

When sharing the gospel, it’s essential to balance grace and truth. Jesus modeled this perfectly, offering compassion to sinners while never compromising God’s standards. As His followers, we are called to do the same.

Speak Truth Boldly: The gospel is the truth that sets people free. Never shy away from sharing the reality of sin, repentance, and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Offer Grace Freely: While truth is necessary, it must always be delivered with love. Harshness can close hearts, but grace opens the door for meaningful conversations.

Follow Jesus’ Example: Jesus met people where they were, addressing their deepest needs with compassion while calling them to a higher standard. We are called to follow His lead.

By sharing the gospel with both grace and truth, we reflect the heart of Christ and create opportunities for lives to be transformed by His love.

Our Son’s 25th Birthday: A Year of Achievements and Challenges

Today, our son turns 25, and this year has been one of incredible accomplishments and some difficult challenges. Watching him graduate college with degrees in bio-mechanics and nutrition was a moment of deep pride. His dedication, perseverance, and hard work have brought him to this point, and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he is becoming.

This year hasn’t been without its struggles. While celebrating his milestones, I know there have been moments of hurt and questions. Yet, through it all, our son continues to show resilience and strength. His ability to push forward in faith, even when it’s hard, reminds me of the truth in Romans 8:28. That God works all things together for good.

My prayer for our son is that he continues to trust God’s plan for his life. The gifts and talents God has given him are part of a greater purpose, and I’m excited to see how the Lord will use him in the years to come.

Evangelism isn’t always about words. Sometimes, the most impactful way to share the gospel is through acts of service. By meeting practical needs and showing genuine care, you reflect the love of Christ and open hearts to His message.

Serving with Purpose: When you serve others, do it with the intention of pointing them to Christ. Your kindness can create opportunities to share why you serve.

Consistency Matters: One act of kindness can make an impact, but consistent service builds trust and shows the authenticity of your faith.

Be Present in the Moment: Acts of service allow you to connect with people in meaningful ways. Listen to their stories, pray for them, and share the hope you have in Christ.

Service is a powerful form of evangelism because it demonstrates God’s love in action. As you serve, let your light shine brightly, glorifying Him and drawing others closer to His heart.

Proverbs 13:20 reminds us that walking with the wise leads to wisdom, but associating with fools brings harm.

Take a moment to reflect on your five closest relationships. Do these people encourage you in your faith, challenge you to grow, and support your walk with Christ? Or do they influence you toward compromise, negativity, or unhealthy habits? The company we keep not only affects our present but also shapes our future.

In my own life, I’ve experienced seasons where the people around me either lifted me up or pulled me down. Choosing godly, uplifting relationships isn’t about being judgmental. It’s about protecting the person God is calling you to be. Surround yourself with those who inspire you to walk closer with Him.

Creating Opportunities: Church events, outreach programs, and mission trips provide platforms for believers to engage with their community and share Christ’s love.

Praying Together: Corporate prayer for the lost is a powerful way to align with God’s mission and seek His guidance in reaching others.

The church is a family on mission together, united in the purpose of making disciples of all nations.

When Friendships Lead Us Away from God

Not all friendships are beneficial. Some relationships, while enjoyable, can subtly lead us away from God. Proverbs 13:20 warns us of the danger of keeping company with those who live foolishly. Their influence can pull us toward compromise, unhealthy habits, and even sin.

I’ve experienced friendships where I had to ask, “Is this relationship drawing me closer to God or further away?” It’s not always easy to let go of friendships that don’t align with God’s purpose for our lives, but sometimes it’s necessary for our spiritual growth.

This doesn’t mean we abandon non-believing friends, but it does mean setting boundaries and being mindful of their influence. We can love them, pray for them, and be a light in their lives without compromising our own walk with Christ.

Friendships should challenge us to grow closer to God, not drift further from Him. Evaluate your relationships and seek God’s wisdom in aligning your friendships with His will.

For Yourself: Personalizing Scripture reminds you of God’s promises in a tangible way.

“God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).

For Others: Declare God’s promises over your loved ones by speaking their names into the Scriptures.

“kiddo can do all things through Christ who strengthens her” (Philippians 4:13).

“our son, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

“My friend, God’s plans for you are to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

For Situations: Use personalized Scripture to intercede for specific challenges.

“Lord, you are a refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble for our family” (Psalm 46:1).

“In this home, the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, will prevail” (Galatians 5:22-23).

Personalizing Scripture is not about changing God’s Word but about claiming His promises for your life and the lives of those you love. It transforms prayer into a deeply relational and faith-filled experience.
