Overcoming Challenges in Discipleship

Discipleship is a rewarding journey, but it’s not without challenges. There will be moments of discouragement, times when you feel like your efforts aren’t making a difference, and even setbacks in the lives of those you’re discipling. Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to grow weary, because God promises a harvest in due time.

The key to overcoming challenges in discipleship is persistence. Keep praying, keep showing up, and keep trusting God to work in the lives of those you’re investing in. Remember, the results aren’t up to you… your job is to plant seeds and water them; God is the one who makes them grow.

Another important aspect is grace. Just as God extends grace to us, we must extend grace to those we’re discipling. Growth takes time, and discipleship is about walking alongside people in their journey, even when it’s messy.

Reflection Questions

  1. What challenges have you faced in discipleship, and how can you rely on God to overcome them?
  2. How can you encourage those you’re discipling when they face setbacks or struggles?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the reminder not to grow weary in doing good. Teach me to persevere in discipleship, trusting You to bring the harvest in Your perfect time. Help Kneel Ministries to walk alongside others with grace, patience, and faithfulness. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Jesus invites us into a life of persistent prayer and trust in God’s faithfulness. The progression of asking, seeking, and knocking emphasizes active faith. A faith that believes God hears, answers, and provides according to His will.

There was a time in my life when I felt stuck, unsure of the next step. I prayed for direction but felt like nothing was happening. It wasn’t until I began seeking God’s Word and knocking on opportunities He placed before me that I saw His plan unfold. God didn’t just give me what I asked for… He gave me something better.

Asking is bringing our needs to God. Seeking is pursuing His will through prayer and His Word. Knocking is taking steps of faith, trusting that He will open the right doors. When we approach Him with persistence and trust, we experience His perfect timing and provision.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you practice asking, seeking, and knocking in your relationship with God?
  2. What steps of faith might God be calling you to take as you trust Him for answers?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for inviting me to bring my needs to You in prayer. Teach me to ask with faith, seek with determination, and knock with trust in Your perfect timing. Help me to rely on Your wisdom and provision in every situation. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Jael: A Woman of Courage

Jael’s story is one of courage, resourcefulness, and obedience to God’s plan. Found in Judges 4–5, her actions changed the course of Israel’s history. While she isn’t a commonly celebrated figure, her role in defeating Sisera, a powerful enemy commander, reminds us that God uses unlikely people in extraordinary ways.

Jael was a tent-dweller, an ordinary woman living in a time of war. When Sisera sought refuge in her tent, she could have chosen to remain neutral or protect him out of fear. Instead, she boldly acted to protect God’s people, driving a tent peg through Sisera’s temple while he slept. Her courage fulfilled Deborah’s prophecy that victory would come through the hands of a woman (Judges 4:9).

Her story resonates personally with me, as my daughter kiddo is named in part after Jael. We chose her name as a reflection of strength, beauty, and unwavering faith. Like Jael, I pray kiddo grows into a woman of courage who trusts God’s plan for her life. (If you’d like to learn more about the meaning behind kiddo’s name, you can find it in the blog on “The Power of a Name.”)

Jael’s actions remind us to act with boldness and obedience when God calls us, even in unexpected ways. She wasn’t a warrior or a prophetess, but she trusted God’s plan and played a pivotal role in His victory.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you step out in courage when God calls you to act, even in unexpected situations?
  2. What can Jael’s story teach you about trusting God’s plan over your fears?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the example of Jael and her courage to obey Your plan. Teach me to trust You in every situation, even when I feel unqualified or afraid. Help me to act with boldness and faith, knowing that You can use me for Your purposes. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Equipping Disciples to Multiply

One of the greatest joys in discipleship is equipping others to multiply. Jesus didn’t just call His disciples to follow Him. He sent them out to make more disciples. The fruit of true discipleship is seeing others grow in their faith and go on to disciple others.

In Kneel Ministries, our focus is not only on helping individuals grow spiritually but also on equipping them to disciple others. This means teaching practical skills like how to study the Bible, share their testimony, and mentor others. It also means encouraging them to rely on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance.

Multiplication takes time, but it’s worth it. When we disciple others with the intention of equipping them to disciple, the impact extends far beyond what we could achieve alone.

Reflection Questions

  1. Who in your life can you equip to disciple others?
  2. How can you encourage those you’re discipling to multiply their efforts?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for choosing me and appointing me to bear fruit that lasts. Teach me to equip others to disciple and multiply, trusting You to bring the harvest. Bless Kneel Ministries as we seek to build Your kingdom through faithful discipleship. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Discipleship in Action: Living Out Your Faith

Discipleship isn’t just about teaching others what to believe, it’s about living out your faith in a way that inspires and equips others to do the same. Matthew 5:16 reminds us that our actions, as much as our words, are a testimony to the world about who God is.

In Kneel Ministries, discipleship in action means modeling Christ’s love in our everyday lives. It’s about being honest, showing grace, and serving others with humility. People learn more from what they see in our lives than what they hear from our mouths.

This type of discipleship requires vulnerability. It’s not about pretending to be perfect but about showing others how to navigate life’s challenges with faith and trust in God. When we live authentically, others are encouraged to grow in their own faith and reflect Christ in their actions.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you model your faith in a way that inspires others to follow Christ?
  2. What steps can you take to live more authentically as a disciple of Jesus?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the opportunity to reflect Your light in my daily life. Teach me to live authentically, modeling Christ’s love and grace to those around me. Help Kneel Ministries to inspire others to grow as disciples through both words and actions. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Trusting God in Seasons of Anxiety

Anxiety can feel overwhelming, like a weight pressing down on your chest. I’ve experienced moments when my mind was racing with worries about the future, relationships, or things completely out of my control. In those moments, I’ve learned that the best thing I can do is turn to God.

1 Peter 5:7 invites us to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us. This isn’t just a suggestion, it’s a promise. God is intimately aware of what we’re going through, and He wants us to lay our burdens at His feet. When I’ve taken this step, I’ve found that His peace replaces my fear, even if my circumstances haven’t changed.

Anxiety is a reminder of our need for God. Instead of letting it consume us, we can use it as an opportunity to draw closer to Him, trusting in His care and provision. He is our refuge, and in His presence, we find rest for our souls.

Reflection Questions

  1. What specific anxieties can you cast on God today?
  2. How can you create a habit of turning to Him in moments of worry?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for caring about every detail of my life. Teach me to cast my anxieties on You and to trust in Your love and faithfulness. Help me to find peace in Your presence and to rest in the knowledge that You are in control. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Kneeling in Prayer: The Foundation of Discipleship

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do in Kneel Ministries, and it is the starting point for discipleship. Without prayer, our efforts become mere human striving. Through prayer, we seek God’s guidance, strength, and wisdom to invest in others and make disciples.

When Jesus chose His disciples, He spent the night in prayer (Luke 6:12). Before the Great Commission, He prayed for His followers (John 17). Prayer is what connects us to God’s heart, aligning our will with His. It empowers us to disciple others not out of our own strength, but through His Spirit working in and through us.

As we kneel before God in prayer, we humble ourselves and acknowledge that He is the one who brings growth and transformation. Whether you’re discipling a new believer, mentoring someone in their faith, or walking alongside a peer, prayer must be at the center.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you make prayer the foundation of your discipleship efforts?
  2. Who can you lift up in prayer today as part of your commitment to making disciples?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of prayer and for the privilege of coming before You. Teach me to make prayer the foundation of all I do, especially in discipleship. Guide me as I invest in others, and empower Kneel Ministries to bring glory to You through faithful discipleship. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Letting Our Fruit Show

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:16 that people will recognize us by our fruit. This isn’t just about what we say. It’s about how we live. Our actions, attitudes, and choices reveal what’s truly in our hearts.

I’ve had moments where my fruit didn’t align with my faith. A harsh word, a selfish decision, or a lack of compassion showed me that I wasn’t fully abiding in Christ. But those moments also became opportunities for growth. God used them to prune me, teaching me to rely on Him more deeply.

Letting our fruit show means living in a way that reflects Christ, even when no one is watching. It’s about integrity, consistency, and surrender. When our lives bear the fruit of the Spirit, we become a testimony of God’s love and power to those around us.

Reflection Questions

  1. What does the fruit of your life currently reveal about your walk with God?
  2. How can you cultivate fruit that reflects Christ more fully?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for calling me to bear fruit that honors You. Teach me to live with integrity and consistency, reflecting Your love and truth in all I do. Help me to abide in You and to allow Your Spirit to transform my heart. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Great Commission: Why Discipleship Matters

Jesus’ final command to His disciples was clear: Go and make disciples. This Great Commission is not just for pastors or missionaries… it’s for every believer. It’s a call to invest in the spiritual growth of others, teaching them to follow Christ and to share His love with the world.

Discipleship is how the church grows. It’s not about filling seats or holding events; it’s about multiplying faithful followers of Jesus who are equipped to disciple others. This is the heart of Kneel Ministries. By focusing on prayer, we align ourselves with God’s will. By investing in discipleship, we fulfill the Great Commission.

Making disciples requires intentionality. It means building relationships, walking alongside others, and being willing to share your own journey of faith. It’s about equipping people to know the Word, defend the faith, and live out the gospel in their daily lives.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you make disciples in your everyday life, starting with those around you?
  2. What steps can you take to intentionally invest in someone’s spiritual growth?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the Great Commission and the call to make disciples. Teach me to live with intentionality, investing in others and pointing them to You. Bless Kneel Ministries as we seek to multiply faithful followers of Jesus. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Discipleship at the Heart of Kneel Ministries

At the heart of Kneel Ministries is a commitment to discipleship. The foundation for this comes from the model of Paul, Barnabas, and Timothy. A framework that reflects the importance of guiding, sharpening, and investing in others to carry forward the mission of Christ.

Paul represented the mature leader, pouring wisdom into Timothy. Barnabas symbolized encouragement, walking alongside Paul as an equal. Timothy, in turn, was the next generation being equipped to lead others. This cycle of discipleship is how the church grows, strengthens, and fulfills the Great Commission.

Discipleship isn’t a one-time program or a task to check off a list… it’s a lifelong process of walking alongside others, teaching them to know and follow Christ while equipping them to disciple others. As Kneel Ministries focuses on prayer, discipleship, apologetics, and evangelism, our goal is to create a movement of faithful followers who multiply disciples in their communities.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you apply the Paul, Barnabas, and Timothy model to your own discipleship efforts?
  2. Who are the people in your life that you can invest in, walk alongside, or learn from?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the foundation of discipleship and the example of Paul, Barnabas, and Timothy. Teach me to pour into others, encourage my peers, and be open to learning from those ahead of me in faith. Help Kneel Ministries to create a movement of disciples who glorify You. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
