Overcoming Challenges in Discipleship

Discipleship is a rewarding journey, but it’s not without challenges. There will be moments of discouragement, times when you feel like your efforts aren’t making a difference, and even setbacks in the lives of those you’re discipling. Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to grow weary, because God promises a harvest in due time.

The key to overcoming challenges in discipleship is persistence. Keep praying, keep showing up, and keep trusting God to work in the lives of those you’re investing in. Remember, the results aren’t up to you… your job is to plant seeds and water them; God is the one who makes them grow.

Another important aspect is grace. Just as God extends grace to us, we must extend grace to those we’re discipling. Growth takes time, and discipleship is about walking alongside people in their journey, even when it’s messy.

Reflection Questions

  1. What challenges have you faced in discipleship, and how can you rely on God to overcome them?
  2. How can you encourage those you’re discipling when they face setbacks or struggles?
