Our Son’s Birthday: Looking to the Future

Our boy turns 26 today, and as I reflect on his journey, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the man he’s become. From his accomplishments in the military to his academic achievements and beyond, he has shown what it means to live with dedication and perseverance.

This year marks a new chapter for him as he begins to navigate life after college. It’s a season of opportunity and growth, and I know God has incredible plans for his future. His gifts, combined with his faith and character, are a testimony to God’s hand on his life.

While I celebrate his achievements, I’m also praying for his continued strength and reliance on God. Life’s path isn’t always easy, but I trust that the Lord is ordering his steps and delighting in his journey. My prayer is that he continues to lean on God, embracing the future with confidence and faith.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you encourage someone entering a new chapter of life to trust God’s guidance?
  2. What practical ways can you celebrate their journey while pointing them to God’s purpose?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for our son and for the incredible journey he’s on. Teach him to trust in Your plans and to follow the path You’ve set before him. Bless him with wisdom, courage, and faith as he steps into this next season of life. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Heart of Giving

Tithing isn’t just a financial transaction… it’s a reflection of our heart. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver. Giving out of obligation or guilt misses the point; true giving comes from a place of gratitude and joy.

When we tithe, we’re saying, “God, I trust You. Thank You for all You’ve given me.” It’s an opportunity to participate in God’s work, supporting ministries, churches, and those in need. More importantly, it aligns our hearts with God’s, teaching us to value generosity over greed.

I’ve learned that cheerful giving isn’t always easy, especially during tight financial seasons. But when we give joyfully, we discover that God’s blessings go far beyond material provision. He transforms our hearts, deepens our trust, and uses our gifts to impact His kingdom.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does your attitude toward giving reflect your trust in God?
  2. What steps can you take to become a cheerful giver?

Lord, thank You for the opportunity to give and to participate in Your work. Teach me to give with a cheerful heart, trusting in Your provision and purpose. Help me to honor You through my generosity and to reflect Your love to others. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Gratitude in All Circumstances

Gratitude is easy when life is going well, but what about when circumstances are difficult? 1 Thessalonians 5:18 challenges us to give thanks in all circumstances, not because everything is good, but because God is good.

In seasons of hardship, gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to who God is. It reminds us of His faithfulness and provision, even in the smallest details. Gratitude doesn’t minimize our pain, it magnifies God’s presence in the midst of it.

One of the most transformative practices in my life has been keeping a gratitude journal. Writing down even three things I’m thankful for each day has helped me see God’s hand in every season. Gratitude changes our perspective, allowing us to trust God more fully and live with joy, no matter what comes our way.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you practice gratitude, even in challenging circumstances?
  2. What specific blessings can you thank God for today?

The Role of Prayer in Evangelism

Evangelism begins with prayer. Before you share the gospel, praying for the person, the opportunity, and your own heart can open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

Pray for Open Hearts: Ask God to prepare the hearts of those you’ll encounter, softening them to receive His truth.

Pray for Boldness: Fear can keep us silent, but prayer equips us with courage and the right words to say.

Pray for Opportunities: Paul asked for prayers for open doors, reminding us that evangelism is as much about God’s timing as our willingness.

When you pray for those who need Christ, you align yourself with God’s will and invite Him to work through you. Prayer is not just preparation… it’s the power behind every conversation.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you incorporate prayer into your approach to evangelism?
  2. Who in your life needs your prayers for their salvation?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the privilege of prayer and for the power it brings to sharing the gospel. Teach me to rely on You through prayer as I seek opportunities to share Your love. Help Kneel Ministries encourage believers to make prayer a foundation of evangelism. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Gratitude in Difficult Seasons

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. But a few years ago, during my separation, it felt impossible to be thankful. I sat at the dinner table, surrounded by family, but my heart was heavy. I couldn’t shake the feeling that my life had fallen apart.

After dinner, I slipped away to a quiet corner and opened my Bible. I stumbled upon 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances.” I remember thinking, “How, God? How do I give thanks when everything feels broken?”

That night, I started a gratitude list. Not because I felt thankful, but because I needed to remind myself of God’s goodness. I wrote down simple things: our daughter’s laugh, a roof over my head, the meal we’d just shared. As the list grew, my perspective began to shift. My circumstances hadn’t changed, but my heart had. Gratitude has a way of opening our eyes to God’s faithfulness, even in the hardest seasons.

Now, I make it a habit to practice gratitude daily. Some days it’s easier than others, but there’s always something to thank God for. Even in our pain, He is present. Even in our struggles, He is good.

If you’re walking through a difficult season, start small. Write down one thing you’re thankful for today. You’ll be amazed at how gratitude can transform your heart.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness, even in the hardest seasons. Open my eyes to see the blessings You’ve placed in my life, and teach me to give thanks in all circumstances. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Kneeling in Prayer: The Foundation of Discipleship

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do in Kneel Ministries, and it is the starting point for discipleship. Without prayer, our efforts become mere human striving. Through prayer, we seek God’s guidance, strength, and wisdom to invest in others and make disciples.

When Jesus chose His disciples, He spent the night in prayer (Luke 6:12). Before the Great Commission, He prayed for His followers (John 17). Prayer is what connects us to God’s heart, aligning our will with His. It empowers us to disciple others not out of our own strength, but through His Spirit working in and through us.

As we kneel before God in prayer, we humble ourselves and acknowledge that He is the one who brings growth and transformation. Whether you’re discipling a new believer, mentoring someone in their faith, or walking alongside a peer, prayer must be at the center.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you make prayer the foundation of your discipleship efforts?
  2. Who can you lift up in prayer today as part of your commitment to making disciples?

Lord, thank You for the gift of prayer and for the privilege of coming before You. Teach me to make prayer the foundation of all I do, especially in discipleship. Guide me as I invest in others, and empower Kneel Ministries to bring glory to You through faithful discipleship. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Envy: The Thief of Joy

Envy is a silent thief. It robs us of joy, contentment, and gratitude, leaving us focused on what we lack instead of what we have. It’s easy to fall into envy’s trap in a world that constantly encourages comparison.

I’ve wrestled with envy, especially during seasons where others seemed to be thriving while I was struggling. Instead of celebrating their blessings, I found myself questioning God’s goodness in my own life. But envy isn’t just a personal struggle. It can damage relationships and hinder our spiritual growth.

The key to overcoming envy is gratitude. When we focus on God’s faithfulness and blessings in our own lives, we free ourselves from the chains of comparison. Gratitude shifts our perspective, reminding us that God’s plans for us are good and uniquely tailored to our needs.

Reflection Questions

  1. How has envy impacted your heart, relationships, or faith?
  2. What can you do this week to practice gratitude and celebrate others’ blessings?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the blessings You’ve given me. Teach me to focus on Your goodness and to let go of envy. Help me to celebrate others’ successes and to trust Your perfect plan for my life. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Transforming Power of Gratitude

Gratitude has the power to transform our perspective. When we choose to give thanks in all circumstances, as Paul encourages in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we shift our focus from what’s wrong to what God is doing.

I remember a time when life felt overwhelming. Financial stress, personal challenges, and unanswered prayers clouded my mind. But one morning, as I began to pray, I felt led to list everything I was thankful for. What started as a reluctant exercise became a moment of worship. My circumstances hadn’t changed, but my heart had. Gratitude reminded me of God’s faithfulness and brought peace to my weary soul.

Gratitude isn’t about ignoring struggles; it’s about acknowledging God’s goodness in the midst of them. It transforms our hearts, strengthens our faith, and draws us closer to Him.

A Year of Growth and Ministry Together

Another year of marriage, and my heart is full of gratitude. This past year has been one of growth, ministry, and seeing God move in incredible ways. My wife’s passion for people and her love for God inspire me daily. Watching her pour into others, both in and outside of the church, reminds me why I fell in love with her in the first place. She is a gift to our family, our ministry, and everyone she meets.
