Hope in the Waiting

Waiting is one of the hardest things to do. Whether you’re waiting for a breakthrough in a difficult season, a long-anticipated answer to prayer, or even clarity about your next steps, it can feel like God is silent. I’ve been there. Sitting in the uncertainty, wondering if God was still listening.

One particular season comes to mind. I had been praying for months about a situation that felt completely out of my control. Every time I thought progress was being made, another obstacle appeared. I remember telling God, “I’m tired of waiting. I don’t see what You’re doing.” But during one of those prayers, I felt the Holy Spirit nudge me to open my Bible. I landed on Isaiah 40:31, a verse I had read many times before: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” That word “hope” stood out like it never had before. It wasn’t about passively waiting… it was about actively trusting that God was working, even when I couldn’t see it.

Hope in the waiting doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It means trusting that God’s timing is perfect and that He’s working all things for your good (Romans 8:28). The waiting season isn’t wasted. It’s where God refines us, teaches us, and prepares us for what’s ahead.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being faithful in every season of my life. Teach me to trust You in the waiting and to find strength in Your promises. Help me to remember that Your timing is always perfect, even when I don’t understand it. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Apologetics: Defending the Faith

Apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia, meaning “a reasoned defense.” It’s the discipline of defending the Christian faith through logic, evidence, and reasoned arguments. In 1 Peter 3:15, we are called to always be prepared to give a reason for the hope we have, and to do so with gentleness and respect.

In a world filled with skepticism and competing worldviews, apologetics is crucial. It equips us to answer tough questions, clarify misunderstandings, and point others to the truth of the gospel. Apologetics isn’t about winning arguments… it’s about winning hearts. When we defend our faith, we demonstrate that Christianity isn’t just a blind leap of faith but a reasoned and evidence-based worldview.

The importance of apologetics goes beyond intellectual engagement. It strengthens our own faith as we delve deeper into why we believe what we believe. It also helps us fulfill the Great Commission, enabling us to share the gospel confidently and effectively.

Celebrating Love, Family, and Ministry

Today, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude as my wife and I celebrate another year of marriage. Our journey together has been one of faith, hope, and love, and I’m continually amazed by the way God has knit our hearts together… not just as husband and wife, but as partners in ministry and life.

My wife is my greatest earthly blessing. Her heart for God, our family, and the church inspires me every day. Whether we’re leading together in ministry, laughing around the dinner table, or dreaming about the future, I see God’s hand in every part of our story.

Our marriage isn’t perfect, but it’s built on the foundation of God’s love, and that makes all the difference. I’m thankful for the ways we’ve grown closer through challenges and celebrated together in joy. My prayer is that we continue to seek God first in everything, allowing His love to guide and sustain us for many years to come.

Patience: Waiting Well in a Fast-Paced World

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit that often feels elusive, especially in a world that values instant gratification. Whether we’re waiting on God’s timing, enduring a difficult season, or navigating daily frustrations, patience challenges us to trust Him completely.

I’ve struggled with patience in my own life, particularly during seasons of waiting for answers or resolution. In those moments, I’ve learned that patience isn’t passive. It’s an active choice to trust God’s timing and remain steadfast in faith.

Patience teaches us to let go of control and lean into God’s grace. It reminds us that His plans are better than ours and that He is always working, even when we can’t see it. As the Holy Spirit cultivates patience in us, we become a reflection of His character, showing the world what it means to trust in His faithfulness.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where is God calling you to practice patience in your life?
  2. How can trusting God’s timing help you endure seasons of waiting?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for teaching me patience and for reminding me that Your timing is perfect. Help me to trust You in every season, waiting with hope and faith. Cultivate patience in my heart so that I may reflect Your grace and peace to others. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Love: The Greatest Commandment

Love is the first fruit of the Spirit, and it’s no surprise why. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). Love is the foundation of everything we do as followers of Christ.

But love isn’t just an emotion, it’s a choice and an action. It’s selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional, mirroring the love God has for us. Yet, loving others isn’t always easy. I’ve struggled to love people who’ve hurt me, disappointed me, or disagreed with me. But in those moments, God reminds me that love isn’t dependent on the other person’s behavior, it’s a reflection of His character in me.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to grow love in our hearts, it changes how we see and treat others. It enables us to forgive, serve, and extend grace, even when it’s hard. Love is what sets us apart as Christians, it’s the fruit that shows the world who Jesus is.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you reflect God’s love in your interactions with others?
  2. Who is God calling you to love more intentionally this week?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for loving me unconditionally and for calling me to reflect that love to others. Teach me to love as You love, even when it’s difficult. Help me to be a vessel of Your grace, kindness, and compassion. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
