The Company We Keep: Choosing Godly Friends

Friendships shape who we are. The people we spend the most time with influence our thoughts, habits, and even our faith. Paul’s warning in 1 Corinthians 15:33 reminds us that bad company can corrupt good character. This doesn’t mean we avoid non-believers, but it does mean we need discernment in choosing close friends.

Godly friendships encourage us, challenge us to grow, and point us to Christ. They’re a source of accountability, comfort, and joy. In my own life, I’ve seen how the right friends have strengthened my faith, while the wrong influences have pulled me away from God’s best.

Ask yourself: Are my friends helping me become more like Jesus, or are they leading me toward compromise? As Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Choose friends who sharpen your faith, not dull it.

Friendships are a gift, but they’re also a responsibility. Be the kind of friend who reflects Christ’s love and inspires others to draw closer to Him.

Reflection Questions

  1. How do your friendships impact your relationship with God?
  2. What steps can you take to build relationships that honor Him?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of friendships and the influence they have on my life. Teach me to choose friends who draw me closer to You and to be a godly influence in the lives of others. Help me to reflect Your love and truth in all my relationships. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Overcoming Fear in Evangelism

One of the biggest obstacles to sharing the gospel is fear. Fear of rejection, fear of saying the wrong thing, or fear of offending someone. Yet, God’s Word reminds us that His Spirit gives us power, love, and self-discipline to overcome fear.

Focus on Love: Sharing the gospel is an act of love. When we care more about someone’s eternal destiny than our own discomfort, fear begins to fade.

Prepare Yourself: Knowing God’s Word and practicing how to share your testimony can help you feel more confident.

Rely on God: Remember, it’s not your job to save anyone, that’s God’s work. Your role is to share faithfully and leave the results to Him.

Fear is natural, but it doesn’t have to hold you back. With God’s help, you can share the gospel boldly and joyfully.

Reflection Questions

  1. What fears have held you back from sharing your faith?
  2. How can you trust God to overcome those fears and step out in faith?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline that equips me to share the gospel without fear. Teach me to trust You in every conversation and to focus on Your love for those who need to hear. Help Kneel Ministries equip believers to overcome fear and share their faith boldly. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Barnabas: The Encourager

Barnabas, whose name means “son of encouragement,” is one of the unsung heroes of the New Testament. Known for his generosity, faith, and support of others, Barnabas played a vital role in the early church.

In Acts 9, when the disciples were hesitant to trust Saul (later Paul) after his conversion, it was Barnabas who vouched for him. Later, he partnered with Paul on missionary journeys, strengthening believers and spreading the gospel. Even when Paul and Barnabas parted ways, Barnabas continued to encourage others, including John Mark, who would go on to write the Gospel of Mark.

Barnabas reminds us of the importance of encouragement in the body of Christ. Whether through words, actions, or presence, we can inspire others to persevere in their faith and calling. His story challenges us to be people who lift others up and point them to God.

Reflection Questions

  1. Who in your life could use encouragement, and how can you offer it?
  2. How can you develop a habit of speaking life into others?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the example of Barnabas and his heart for encouragement. Teach me to be a source of strength and inspiration to those around me. Help me to reflect Your love by building others up and pointing them to You. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Ananias: Obeying God in Uncertainty

Ananias is a lesser-known figure in the Bible, but his obedience in a pivotal moment of uncertainty changed the course of history. When Saul (later Paul) encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, God called Ananias to go and pray for him. A man notorious for persecuting Christians.

Understandably, Ananias hesitated. Saul was dangerous, and going to him seemed like a death sentence. But Ananias trusted God’s voice and obeyed. He went to Saul, laid hands on him, and prayed, leading to Saul’s physical and spiritual healing. Saul went on to become Paul, one of the greatest apostles and missionaries of all time.

Ananias’s story reminds us that obedience often requires stepping out of our comfort zones. We may not always understand God’s plan, but when we trust Him, He can use us to accomplish incredible things.

Reflection Questions

  1. When has God called you to step out in faith, even when it felt uncertain?
  2. How can you practice trusting His voice in moments of doubt?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the obedience of Ananias and his willingness to follow Your call. Teach me to trust You in moments of uncertainty and to obey even when the path is unclear. Help me to see how You can use my faithfulness for Your glory. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Overcoming Fear with Faith

Fear can be paralyzing, holding us back from the life God has called us to live. I’ve faced moments when fear whispered, “You’re not enough,” or “What if you fail?” In those times, I’ve learned to lean into the truth of 2 Timothy 1:7. God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Faith doesn’t mean we won’t feel fear. It means we choose to trust God in the midst of it. When I’ve stepped out in faith despite my fears, I’ve seen God’s power at work in ways I never imagined. Fear may still whisper, but God’s voice is louder, reminding me that He is with me and for me.

Overcoming fear begins with surrender. When we bring our fears to God, He replaces them with His peace and courage. He equips us to move forward, knowing that He is in control and that His plans for us are good.

Reflection Questions

  1. What fears are holding you back, and how can you surrender them to God?
  2. How can faith help you take the next step forward in trust?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for giving me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Teach me to trust You with my fears and to walk in faith, knowing that You are always with me. Help me to overcome fear with the assurance of Your presence and promises. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Resurrection of Jesus: The Cornerstone of Faith

The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity. If Christ did not rise, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:17, our faith is futile. Yet, the evidence for the resurrection is both compelling and transformative.

Historical Evidence: The empty tomb, the transformation of the disciples, and the spread of Christianity all point to a risen Savior. The disciples, who once fled in fear, boldly proclaimed the resurrection even unto death, a testimony to the truth of what they witnessed.

Eyewitness Accounts: The Gospels record numerous appearances of Jesus after His resurrection, including to over 500 people at once (1 Corinthians 15:6). These accounts provide credible testimony that Jesus defeated death.

Changed Lives: From Paul’s radical conversion to the testimonies of believers today, the resurrection continues to change lives. The risen Christ offers hope, forgiveness, and eternal life to all who believe.

The resurrection is not just an event in history… it’s the foundation of our faith and the source of our hope. As we defend its truth, we proclaim the victory of Christ over sin and death.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you share the evidence for the resurrection with those who doubt?
  2. What difference does the resurrection make in your daily life and faith?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the victory of the resurrection and the hope it brings. Teach me to share this truth with boldness and joy, pointing others to the risen Savior. Help Kneel Ministries equip believers to defend the resurrection and live in its power. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Authority of the Bible: Why Trust Scripture?

The Bible is the foundation of the Christian faith, but many question its authority. How can we trust a book written thousands of years ago? Apologetics helps us answer these questions and defend the Bible’s reliability and divine inspiration.

Inspired by God: As 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, Scripture is “God-breathed.” It is not merely a human book but a divine revelation, written by men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).

Historically Reliable: Archaeological discoveries, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, confirm the accuracy of biblical texts. The New Testament, in particular, has more manuscript evidence than any other ancient document, ensuring its reliability.

Transformational Power: The Bible’s ability to change lives is unmatched. Millions have experienced its truth and power, finding hope, direction, and salvation through its pages.

Trusting the Bible means trusting God’s ability to preserve His Word for us. It is a foundation we can stand on with confidence, knowing it points us to Christ and equips us for every good work.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you use the evidence for the Bible’s reliability to strengthen your faith and share it with others?
  2. What verses or stories in Scripture have transformed your life?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Word and for preserving it for generations. Teach me to trust Scripture and to defend its truth with boldness and humility. Help Kneel Ministries equip believers to rely on Your Word as the foundation of their faith. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Lydia: A Heart Open to God

Lydia’s story in Acts 16 is a powerful example of how God uses ordinary people with willing hearts to accomplish extraordinary things. A businesswoman and dealer in purple cloth, Lydia was an influential woman in Philippi. But what stands out most is her openness to the gospel and her immediate response to God’s call.

When Paul and his companions arrived in Philippi, they encountered Lydia at a place of prayer. As Paul shared the message of Jesus, the Lord opened Lydia’s heart, and she became the first recorded convert in Europe. Her faith didn’t stop with her own salvation; she immediately extended hospitality to Paul and his team, opening her home and her life to support their ministry.

Lydia reminds us of the power of a willing heart. She wasn’t a preacher or a prophet, but her openness to God’s Word and her generosity made her a vital part of spreading the gospel. Her story challenges us to ask: How can I use my resources, gifts, and influence for God’s kingdom?

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you cultivate an open heart like Lydia, ready to respond to God’s call?
  2. What resources or gifts has God given you to serve His kingdom?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the example of Lydia and her open heart. Teach me to respond to Your Word with faith and obedience. Help me to use the resources You’ve given me to support Your work and reflect Your love to others. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Onesimus: A Life Transformed

Onesimus’s story, found in Paul’s letter to Philemon, is a beautiful testament to the transformative power of the gospel. Onesimus was a runaway slave who had wronged his master, Philemon, but through Paul’s ministry, he encountered Christ and was forever changed.

Paul described Onesimus as “useless” in the past but now “useful” to both him and Philemon, a play on Onesimus’s name, which means “useful.” This transformation wasn’t just about a change in behavior; it was a change in identity. As a follower of Christ, Onesimus became a beloved brother in the faith, no longer defined by his past mistakes.

Onesimus reminds us that God’s grace can redeem any situation. No matter how far we’ve run or how broken our story feels, God can use us for His purposes. Through Christ, we are made new, and our lives can become a testimony of His power and love.

Reflection Questions

  1. How has God transformed your life, and how can you share that story with others?
  2. What areas of your life do you need to surrender to God for transformation?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the story of Onesimus and the reminder that no one is beyond Your redemption. Teach me to trust in Your transformative power and to live as a testimony of Your grace. Help me to embrace my new identity in Christ and to share Your love with others. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Patience of Discipleship

Discipleship is a journey, not a sprint. Growth in faith and character takes time, and as disciplers, we’re called to be patient and loving with those we’re guiding. Ephesians 4:2 reminds us of the importance of humility, gentleness, and patience in our relationships with others.

Patience in discipleship means celebrating small victories and trusting God to work in His timing. It’s easy to become discouraged when progress seems slow, but discipleship is about the process, not the speed. Just as God is patient with us in our growth, we’re called to extend that same grace to others.

Patience also requires prayer. When we bring the people we’re discipling before God, we’re reminded that He is the one doing the work in their hearts. Our role is to be faithful, consistent, and supportive, trusting Him with the results.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you practice patience in your discipleship relationships?
  2. What prayers can you lift up for those you’re discipling as they grow in their faith?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being patient with me and for teaching me to extend that same patience to others. Help me to trust Your timing in the discipleship process and to love those I’m guiding with humility and grace. Bless Kneel Ministries as we seek to disciple others for Your glory. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
