The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit empowers believers with spiritual gifts to build up the church and advance God’s kingdom. These gifts are diverse, given by the Spirit to equip us for service and to reflect God’s glory.

As an Assemblies of God minister, I’ve seen the beauty and power of spiritual gifts at work in the church. Whether it’s a word of wisdom, a prophecy, or the gift of healing, each gift serves a unique purpose in glorifying God and edifying His people.

A Diversity of Gifts: The Spirit gives gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, and tongues, each playing a vital role in the church (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).

Unity in Diversity: Though the gifts are varied, they come from the same Spirit, working together to build up the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-14).

For God’s Glory: The gifts are not for personal gain but for the benefit of others and the glorification of God (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Calling on the Holy Spirit to reveal and activate His gifts in our lives allows us to serve others with boldness and humility.

Reflection Questions

  1. What spiritual gifts has the Holy Spirit given you?
  2. How can you use your gifts to serve others and glorify God?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, given to equip and empower us for Your work. Teach me to steward my gifts well and to use them for Your glory. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Salt of the Earth

Salt was incredibly valuable in Jesus’ time. It preserved food, enhanced flavor, and even symbolized purity. When Jesus calls His followers the salt of the earth, He’s reminding us of our unique purpose: to preserve the truth, enhance the world with God’s love, and live in a way that reflects His holiness.

But Jesus also warns that salt can lose its saltiness. This happens when we compromise our faith, neglect our relationship with God, or conform to the world. When we fail to live out our purpose, we lose our impact and witness.

I’ve had seasons where I felt my “saltiness” was fading, times when I got too caught up in the busyness of life and lost sight of God’s mission for me. But God, in His grace, always draws me back, reminding me of my calling to make a difference in the lives of others. Being salt isn’t about perfection, it’s about staying connected to the One who gives us purpose.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you preserve your “saltiness” and live out your God-given purpose?
  2. In what ways can you enhance the lives of others with God’s love and truth?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for calling me to be the salt of the earth. Teach me to live in a way that preserves truth, reflects Your love, and glorifies You. Help me to stay connected to You and to fulfill the purpose You’ve given me. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Blessed Are the Merciful

Mercy is more than just compassion, it’s actively showing kindness and forgiveness, even when it’s undeserved. Jesus tells us that those who show mercy will receive mercy. This principle isn’t just about others, it’s about aligning our hearts with God’s.

There was a time when I struggled to forgive someone who had hurt me deeply. My pride wanted justice, not mercy. But as I prayed about it, God reminded me of the mercy He’d shown me time and again. Extending mercy to others wasn’t just a command, it was a response to the incredible mercy I’d received from Him.

Mercy breaks down walls, heals relationships, and reflects the heart of Christ. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. When we choose mercy, we invite God’s blessing into our lives and create space for His grace to work in us and through us.

Reflection Questions

  1. Who in your life needs to experience mercy from you today?
  2. How has God’s mercy transformed your life and relationships?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the mercy You show me every day. Teach me to extend that same mercy to others, even when it’s difficult. Help me to forgive, love, and reflect Your grace in all my relationships. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

El Channun: The Gracious God

El Channun, “The Gracious God,” highlights God’s generosity and compassion. This name speaks of His readiness to forgive, His kindness toward His people, and His desire to bless us beyond what we deserve.

I’ve experienced El Channun during times when I felt like I had failed too much to approach God. Instead of judgment, I found grace. He reminded me that His grace is sufficient and that His love is greater than my shortcomings.

God’s Grace in Forgiveness: El Channun extends mercy and forgiveness to all who call on Him, no matter how far they’ve strayed.

God’s Grace in Blessing: His grace goes beyond forgiveness, lavishing us with blessings we could never earn.

God’s Grace in Compassion: El Channun is patient and kind, always ready to meet us where we are and guide us back to Him.

Calling on El Channun reminds us of God’s abundant grace and His deep desire to draw us closer to Him.

Reflection Questions

  1. How have you experienced God’s grace in your life?
  2. In what ways can you reflect the grace of El Channun to others?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being El Channun, the gracious God who forgives and blesses me. Teach me to live in the freedom of Your grace and to extend that grace to others. Help Kneel Ministries point others to Your abundant kindness. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

New Testament

Introduction to the Names of God in the New Testament

Date: July 22, 2026

Bible Verse: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Message:

The New Testament names of God bring us closer to understanding His character, revealed most fully through Jesus Christ. While the Old Testament names highlight His roles as Creator, Provider, and Deliverer, the New Testament names deepen our relationship with Him by showing His personal connection to humanity.

I remember when I first encountered the name Emmanuel, meaning “God with us.” It reminded me that God doesn’t stay distant, He enters our struggles, walks alongside us, and carries us through. The New Testament names, such as Good Shepherd, Light of the World, and Prince of Peace, show us that God’s love is both personal and transformative.

In this series, we’ll explore the names of God revealed in the New Testament, starting with the titles of Jesus and expanding to include the descriptions of the Holy Spirit. Let these names encourage you as you grow closer to the One who is with you always.

Reflection Questions:

Which New Testament name of God resonates most with your heart?

How does knowing Jesus through these names deepen your faith?

Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself through the names and titles found in the New Testament. Teach me to see Your character more clearly through the life of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. The King of Kings

“The King of Kings” highlights Jesus’ supreme authority and rule over all creation. He is not just a king. He is the King above all kings, deserving of our highest allegiance and worship.

In a world where so many things compete for our attention and loyalty, this name reminds me to keep Jesus at the center of my life. He is the ultimate ruler, and His kingdom is eternal.

A Sovereign Ruler: The King of Kings reigns over all nations and powers, ensuring that His will prevails.

A Worthy King: Jesus deserves our highest worship and devotion because of who He is and what He has done.

A Victorious King: His reign is marked by victory over sin, death, and the enemy, offering us freedom and hope.

Calling on the King of Kings challenges us to submit every area of our lives to His rule and to live in allegiance to His eternal kingdom.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does knowing Jesus as the King of Kings influence your daily life?
  2. In what areas do you need to surrender to His rule and authority?

Lord, thank You for being the King of Kings who reigns in glory and power. Teach me to live in submission to Your authority and to worship You with all my heart. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Moses: When God Calls the Inadequate

Moses is one of the most remarkable leaders in the Bible, but when God first called him, he didn’t feel up to the task. He had a past he wasn’t proud of, he doubted his abilities, and he didn’t think he was the right person for the job.

I’ve felt that way too. After my divorce, I questioned whether I could still serve in ministry. I wondered if God could use someone who had failed so publicly. Every time I thought about stepping back into leadership, a little voice whispered, “Who do you think you are?”

Moses asked the same question: “Who am I?” But God’s response changed everything: “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:12) God wasn’t focused on Moses’ qualifications. He was focused on His own power and presence.

That truth gave me the courage to step forward again. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Like Moses, we might feel inadequate, but our confidence doesn’t come from who we are, it comes from who God is.

If you’re feeling unworthy of God’s calling, remember this: He’s not asking you to do it alone. He’s with you, equipping you for the task He’s set before you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me, even when I feel inadequate. Remind me that my strength comes from You, not from myself. Help me to trust Your presence and step forward in faith. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Joy of Serving Others

Serving others is one of the most fulfilling ways to reflect God’s love. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us that our gifts aren’t meant to be kept for ourselves… they’re meant to bless others and glorify God. When we serve, we step into God’s purpose for our lives and experience the joy that comes from selflessness.

I’ve seen firsthand how serving others transforms not only those we help but also our own hearts. Whether it’s volunteering at a local ministry, helping a neighbor, or simply listening to someone in need, each act of service is an opportunity to show Christ’s love in action.

Serving doesn’t require grand gestures. It’s about being faithful in the small things and using what we have to make a difference. When we serve with humility and love, we not only bring joy to others but also draw closer to God.

Reflection Questions

  1. What gifts or talents has God given you to serve others?
  2. How can you incorporate acts of service into your daily life?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the privilege of serving others. Teach me to use my gifts to bless those around me and to reflect Your love in all I do. Help me to serve with humility and joy, trusting that You are working through me. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Marriage: The Role of Sacrificial Love

Marriage is one of the most profound illustrations of Christ’s relationship with the church. Ephesians 5:25 challenges husbands to love their wives with the same sacrificial love that Jesus demonstrated. This love isn’t based on feelings or convenience. It’s a daily choice to put your spouse’s needs above your own.

Sacrificial love means serving, forgiving, and persevering, even when it’s hard. It reflects Christ’s love, which is selfless and unconditional. For wives, this means honoring and respecting their husbands, as Ephesians 5:33 instructs. Together, this creates a beautiful partnership that glorifies God.

In my own journey, I’ve learned that this kind of love requires humility and grace. It’s not about being perfect, but about striving to reflect Christ in our actions and attitudes. When we love sacrificially, we strengthen our marriages and create a foundation that can withstand life’s challenges.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you practice sacrificial love in your marriage or relationships?
  2. What does it look like to reflect Christ’s love in your daily interactions with your spouse?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your example of sacrificial love. Teach me to love selflessly and to reflect Your grace in my marriage. Help me to serve, honor, and cherish my spouse, trusting You to strengthen our bond. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Evangelism Through Acts of Service

Evangelism isn’t always about words. Sometimes, the most impactful way to share the gospel is through acts of service. By meeting practical needs and showing genuine care, you reflect the love of Christ and open hearts to His message.

Serving with Purpose: When you serve others, do it with the intention of pointing them to Christ. Your kindness can create opportunities to share why you serve.

Consistency Matters: One act of kindness can make an impact, but consistent service builds trust and shows the authenticity of your faith.

Be Present in the Moment: Acts of service allow you to connect with people in meaningful ways. Listen to their stories, pray for them, and share the hope you have in Christ.

Service is a powerful form of evangelism because it demonstrates God’s love in action. As you serve, let your light shine brightly, glorifying Him and drawing others closer to His heart.

Reflection Questions

  1. How can you use acts of service to share the gospel in your community?
  2. Who in your life could be blessed by your service this week?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the opportunity to share Your love through acts of service. Teach me to serve with humility and purpose, always pointing others to You. Help Kneel Ministries equip believers to reflect Your light through their good deeds. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Sharing the Gospel with Family

Sharing the gospel with family can be one of the most rewarding, and challenging, parts of evangelism. Family dynamics often come with history, emotions, and expectations that can make these conversations complex.

Live Your Faith: The most effective way to witness to your family is through your actions. Let them see Christ in your love, patience, and integrity.

Choose the Right Moments: Be sensitive to the timing and approach of your conversations, ensuring they’re led by the Holy Spirit and not forced.

Pray Without Ceasing: Never underestimate the power of prayer for your family. Trust God to work in their hearts, even when you don’t see immediate results.

Sharing the gospel with family requires patience and love. Remember, your role is to plant seeds, but God is the one who brings the harvest.

Reflection Questions

  1. What steps can you take to share the gospel with your family in love and humility?
  2. How can your daily life reflect Christ to those closest to you?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for my family and for the opportunity to share Your love with them. Teach me to live my faith authentically and to trust You with the results. Help Kneel Ministries encourage believers to shine Your light within their families. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
