The Case of the Missing Keys

Date: July 15, 2024

Bible Verse:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV)

Message (Longer with a Fun Twist):

It’s funny how something as small as losing your keys can ruin your whole day. Last summer, kiddo and I were supposed to meet some friends at the park, but my car keys had other plans.

We searched everywhere. Couch cushions, countertops, even the refrigerator (don’t ask). As the minutes ticked by, I grew more and more frustrated. kiddo, on the other hand, decided to turn the whole thing into a game. “If I find them first, you owe me ice cream!” she declared.

About 30 minutes later, we finally found the keys… in my shoe. How they got there, I’ll never know. By then, we were running so late, I was ready to call the whole thing off. But kiddo reminded me, “Hey, at least we’re together, right?” Her simple words stopped me in my tracks.

How often do we let minor inconveniences rob us of our peace? In those moments, it’s easy to lose perspective. But 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to cast all our anxieties on God. Not just the big ones, but the small ones, too.

That day, I realized I had a choice: I could stay annoyed, or I could laugh it off and enjoy the time with my daughter. I chose the latter (and yes, she got her ice cream). It wasn’t the day I’d planned, but it was a day filled with grace. And a reminder that God cares about every detail of our lives, even the frustrating ones.

Bible Promise:

God cares for you in every situation.

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18, NIV)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for caring about every detail of my life, big and small. Help me to trust You when things don’t go as planned and to find joy in the midst of frustration. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
