Marijuana – The Science in 2026

The conversation about marijuana is shifting again in 2026. What once was dismissed as “no big deal” is now showing up in emergency rooms, long-term studies, and public health alerts.

Doctors are reporting increasing cases where cannabis use leads to severe outcomes like psychosis, nausea so intense it sends people back to the hospital, and patterns of dependence that look a lot like other substance use disorders. In North Carolina, emergency departments are seeing rises in cannabis-related psychosis and violent bouts of vomiting in young people.

Long-term studies now link adolescent cannabis use with a doubled risk of serious psychiatric conditions like psychotic and bipolar disorders. Often diagnosed a few years after first use.

Public health research underscores another reality… THC is far stronger today than it was decades ago. Products with high potency are associated with higher odds of mental health disorders.

Emergency department visits related to cannabis abuse, dependence, poisoning, and chronic effects like cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. This includes repeated, severe vomiting linked to frequent use. These are on the rise among adults as well.

Even regulatory discussions are shifting. Scientists are debating whether cannabis should be regulated more like alcohol and tobacco, with standard dosing limits and stricter safety warnings.

None of this means every person who uses cannabis will experience harm. But the data in 2026 show a clear trend: the health impacts, especially on young brains and long-term patterns of use, are more serious than previously acknowledged.

And that has implications for believers.

Scripture does not call us to fear every cultural shift. It calls us to discernment; to measure claims against truth and consequences. When a substance alters the mind, increases risk of psychiatric disorders, and burdens health systems… wisdom does not casually embrace it.

Our minds matter. Our bodies matter. Our witness matters.

Bible Promise

1 Corinthians 3:16–17
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

Reflection Questions

  1. Am I tuning my heart to culture or to Scripture?
  2. Do I value clarity of mind and self control?
  3. What risks am I willing to accept for momentary relief?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
You are the source of wisdom and discernment. Open my eyes to see truth clearly. Guard my mind, my body, and my spirit from anything that weakens my clarity or distances me from You. Help me choose what honors You and protects what You have entrusted to me.
I give You all honor, all the glory, and all of the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

Ancient Darkness in Modern Clothes

Divination, Sorcery, and the Return of Forbidden Practices

Some people assume divination and sorcery belong only to ancient history. They picture fortune tellers in old marketplaces, witches in folklore, or strange rituals from another time. Because of that, many fail to recognize those same practices when they return in modern forms.

The methods may change, but the temptation remains the same.

Divination is the attempt to gain knowledge, direction, or hidden insight through spiritual means apart from God. Sorcery is the attempt to gain power, influence, healing, or control through spiritual practices outside of God’s authority.

That is why Scripture speaks strongly about them.

Deuteronomy 18:10 to 12 (NLT)
“Do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft… Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”

Many hear those words and think, “That has nothing to do with me.” But look at modern culture.

People use tarot cards for answers. They consult astrology for direction. They carry crystals for protection. They burn sage to remove negative spirits. They seek chakra readings for emotional healing. They use pendulums, spirit guides, moon rituals, manifestation ceremonies, and other practices designed to unlock hidden knowledge or spiritual power.

These are not random trends. They are modern expressions of ancient desires.

Humanity has always wanted knowledge without obedience, power without surrender, blessing without repentance, and spirituality without God.

That desire began in the garden when the serpent offered hidden wisdom apart from the Lord. The strategy has not changed much since.

The danger is not only obvious darkness. It is counterfeit spirituality. Something can feel meaningful and still be false. Something can feel mystical and still be empty. Something can seem powerful and still lead people away from truth.

1 John 4:1 (NLT)
“Do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them.”

Christians do not need secret tools, coded signs, or mystical objects. We have the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, the wisdom of prayer, and the name of Jesus.

That is enough.

If a practice depends on hidden forces, unnamed energies, spiritual intermediaries, or powers outside of Christ, it should be rejected. Believers are called to walk in the light, not experiment in the shadows.

The answer to counterfeit spirituality is not fear. It is clarity.

Jesus offers what counterfeits only imitate.

Bible Promise

John 8:12 (NLT)
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Reflection Questions

  1. Have I normalized practices God warns against simply because culture made them common?
  2. Do I truly believe Christ is enough, or am I tempted by spiritual shortcuts?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for calling me out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. Give me wisdom to recognize counterfeit spirituality in every form. Help me reject hidden things and cling fully to Christ. Let Your Word guide me, Your Spirit lead me, and Your truth protect me. Remind me daily that Jesus is enough. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all of the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.

The Beautiful Lie of Harmless Spirituality

There is a growing trend that looks peaceful, soft, and harmless on the surface. It comes wrapped in candles, crystals, sage smoke, affirmations, energy talk, and phrases like “good vibes only.” It is often marketed as healing, feminine, calming, natural, and enlightened.

But many things that feel peaceful are not rooted in truth.

The enemy rarely shows up looking dark and dangerous. He often comes dressed in light, beauty, mystery, and self-help. Scripture warns us clearly:

2 Corinthians 11:14 (NLT)
But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

That should sober us.

A crystal may be a rock. Sage may be a plant. A candle may be wax. But when ordinary objects are turned into spiritual tools for cleansing, protection, healing energy, opening intuition, or attracting blessings, the issue is no longer the object. The issue is misplaced faith.

Many today burn sage to remove negative energy. Others carry crystals for protection, peace, or healing. Some repeat affirmations believing they can manifest reality. Others seek alignment through chakra systems borrowed from other religions.

None of these practices were taught by Jesus.

None were practiced by the apostles.

None are presented in Scripture as tools for believers.

Instead, God consistently calls His people to seek Him directly, not hidden energies or spiritual techniques.

Isaiah 8:19 (NLT)
Should the living seek guidance from the dead? Why seek guidance from the dead on behalf of the living?

The broader principle is clear. Why seek spiritual help anywhere else when we can seek God?

Culture says cleanse your room with smoke.
God says cleanse your heart with repentance.

Culture says carry a crystal.
God says carry your cross.

Culture says align your energy.
God says renew your mind.

Culture says manifest abundance.
God says pray, trust, work faithfully, and submit to His will.

The danger is not always dramatic possession or horror movie moments. Often the danger is subtle dependence. Trust shifts little by little from God to methods, rituals, objects, and feelings.

What begins as curiosity can become bondage.

Jesus offers something better than vibes, rituals, and energies. He offers truth, peace, forgiveness, power, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

You do not need a stone when you have the Rock.

Bible Promise

John 8:32 (NLT)
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Reflection Questions

  1. Have I placed confidence in any object or ritual more than in God?
  2. Am I pursuing peace through culture’s methods or Christ’s presence?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, guard my heart from beautiful lies and subtle deception. Help me seek You alone for peace, healing, wisdom, and protection. Remove every false dependency and strengthen my trust in Jesus. Fill me with truth and discernment. I give You all honor, all the glory, and all of the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen & Amen.
